Wildlife Crusies
Join us on one of our cruises and see the diverse wildlife and stunning beauty of the Hebrides. All our cruises will take you to a range of stunning islands and destinations. Whether you come to see the incredible variety of wildlife the Scottish Hebrides has to offer, with magnificent white tailed eagles, the majestic golden eagle, comical puffins, graceful manx shearwaters, elusive otters and much more or whether it’s to take in the fantastic scenery and seascapes, we are sure you will find it an unforgettable experience.
This year we are offering two different main destination cruises for you. Our Outer Isles and St.Kilda Cruise is your chance to visit the incredible ‘Islands on the Edge of the World’. Approximately 45 miles West of the Hebrides, St.Kilda was once home to Britain’s most isolated community. Today St.Kilda is a haven for 210 different species of birds and a total of over 1 million seabirds have been recorded there. We will give you ample time to get ashore on Hirta to explore it’s unique history and walk along the ‘Main Street’ of village bay. A full day will be spent cruising the Islands of St.KIlda – Hirta,Dun,Soay, and Boreray and of course the Sea Stacks such as Stac An Armin and Stac Lee. We know these waters very well and promise to get you up close to the cliffs and birds.
Looking up from the deck of the Elizabeth G as we lie under the ‘Casting Off Stone’of Stac Lee with literally thousands of gannets swirling and diving above you is an incredible experience. The history, it’s remoteness and incredible wildlife make the islands of St.Kilda an exceptionally desirable destination. We would like you to note though that St.Kilda is never a guaranteed destination.
Our Skye and Shiant Islands Cruise is a more leisurely paced but none the less exciting cruise to the enchanting Shiant Islands. Situated in the Northern Minch 4 miles off the east coast of Lewis. Many people call the Shiant Islands a mini St.KIlda and it certainly compares favorably with St.Kilda for it’s bird life and geographics. The Shiant Islands have been designated a Special Protection Area for the conservation of birds.
There are 18 thousand guillemots, 8-11 thousand razorbills, 4-6 thousand fulmars and 240 thousand puffins. The Shiant Islands also have much archeology on the 3 islands that make up the Shiants – House Island, Rough Island and Mary Island.
There will ample time to get ashore and explore all three of these fascinating islands. The natural ‘Horse Shoe’ harbour of the Shiant Islands make it an ideal overnight anchorage and a perfect place to sit on the top deck of the Elizabeth G as the sun sets to the west and take in it’s unique atmosphere.
